Re: 2.5 Inch Scale Boxcar From the Wheels up

Hey,

I am going to do the wheels as a batch so the painting has begun.

I did pull two wheels out of the stack to machine them for a look see. They ran fine.

Re: 2.5 Inch Scale Boxcar From the Wheels up

Back again, All the usual life delays have been in the way, New Grandson, moving daughter and son-in-law to NC. and work. By the way I retire in December, Picked up the wheels that had been in storage with Steve in Maryland while on vacation. I chucked up the first of a run of 40 wheels that should ...

Re: Little Engines American Boiler

A little history on LE back when Larry Kombrink built the one I have. DSC_5400.jpg The boiler listed is the one in my American. It was fabricated using various castings and a five inch tube for the forward part of the boiler. Cost for complete parts kit was $178.20 with an extra $45.25 if you needed...

Re: 2.5 Inch Scale Boxcar From the Wheels up

The trucks continue along. Steve just informed me he picked up the wheel castings for the narrow gauge trucks from Cattail. I may be driving out to pick them up as forty wheels weigh 220 pounds. As it is, I am planning on going out with my wife as she has to work out there for three weeks. IMG_0846....

Re: 12VCompressor for a Brake Car

Still chasing parts for the conversion. Ran the American at Mid South yesterday in the morning. Made one last attempt at testing the CO2 Brakes before tearing it out of the Box Car. The CO2 bottle valve failed and would not release pressure so it was back to using reverse to slow down on the hills. ...

Re: Little Engines American Boiler

Question for Jesse

My American is slippery to say the least. She weighs in a 137 pounds with an original LE Cast boiler.

Do you know what the American in your videos weigh?

Re: 12VCompressor for a Brake Car

Thanks for the input to date. I should mention that this is for the LE American which pulls me a brake car and a caboose with a total weight of 525 pounds with me on it. A long run so far has been two hours and at that point I could barely walk after getting off it. DSC_5336.jpg like most LE America...

12VCompressor for a Brake Car

Morning all, My attempt at a brake car for the American worked great except when it did not work. The first try was using a CO2 bottle from a paintball gun with a regulator set at 30PSI. As I say it works great until the gas runs out. Will now convert it to a battery driven compressor with resevoir ...

Re: Converting a Baldwin 2-4-2 LYN to a Baldwin 2-4-4

This must be the slowest build in the history of Chaski.

Still plugging along. I am retiring in December and hoping to make this my full time job.

Latest Progress.
