Re: Converting a Baldwin 2-4-2 LYN to a Baldwin 2-4-4
I was able to take Miss Ann to CStP&P located at Canton GA two weeks back. A friend accompanied me, and we spent Wednesday thru Friday at the track. On Thursday and Friday mornings we worked on a club drain problem. We were able to run on Wed afternoon and half a day on Thursday. The rain shut u...

Re: Converting a Baldwin 2-4-2 LYN to a Baldwin 2-4-4

Re: Nylatron Bushing Use
One question I have is on the subject using a lubricant after the engine is up and running. Is anyone doing this?

Re: Nylatron Bushing Use
I am appreciative of all the information everyone has provided. I would have responded earlier but we have had to replace our home computer.
The bushings are nearing completion along with new cylinder cocks.
Very interesting material to work with.

Re: Nylatron Bushing Use
I have input from two people I really have trusted over the years and they have never steered me wrong. One has had it on his engine for twenty years and the other has built over ten engines using it. Interestingly I know that they were both influenced by Paul Brian. I would only ever get to meet Pa...

Nylatron Bushing Use
Morning all,
Having already started down a path to new rod bushings on the Miss Ann, I would like input from anyone that has used Nylatron in the past for bushings.
Trying not to be rude but would like to hear from modelers who have used it, not those that have heard about using it.

Re: Remembering Dave Sclavi
I find I really do miss him. He and I had battled for the parts at Largo that would become the Miss Ann. He would call me from time to time telling me that he was always looking to buy it should I peter out on it. Gave me a lot of motivation and we use to argue a lot. I miss that. Dave was no Yes Ma...

Re: Converting a Baldwin 2-4-2 LYN to a Baldwin 2-4-4
The winter teardown Is in full swing. The main thing I would like to accomplish is to get the water tank built from steel and retire the plywood temp. I have been using. Hope tor order the steel tomorrow. Have great hopes that with the help of friends at Mid-South I will be able to get it bent and w...

Re: Sharing a little progress
Understanding that I have a limited knowledge of Steam Locomotives, what is a Firing Valve? As for the brass handle, that's the firing valve.

Re: Sharing a little progress
Good Morning, Nice project. You really should move it to the builders thread. I my humble opinion, I believe you will find most builders of steam engines have started this way. From the look of your engine project, it was built by someone with attention to detail. Anything you do to finish it should...

Re: Oxy-acetylene welding steel boiler?
I have straight stick welded every one of my steel boilers (all 3 of them). TIG is nice, and makes easy, but is not a requirement. Bills quote above is the most import input on this thread. When building the Miss Ann I was determined to do it all, even the boiler. Having taken welding in 1970 high ...
