The gear connecting rod has a off set also for the angularity . This make the valve gear travel equaly. LivingLegend is right about the combination lever offset.

There are two more triplex locomotives . One in Australia , a Virginian type Ian Thomas is building . The other one is Mike Darbyshire's in New York . On the Triplex all 3 chassis are the same. I have talked to Barry about the drifting valves. He told me that he is not making them at this time . I plain on making my own. I will need 6 of them.

Fred what do you run for boiler pressure ? Does this happen just when the engine is moving or just when you start to open the throttle ? Does your throttle leak when it's closed ?
