Secret Weapons for clearing chips: No way I grab any with my fingers. Good way to slice & dice yourself. IMG_0218S.JPG Secret Weapons for grinding small tool steel bits, and drill bits: I use HSS blanks, usually square, from 1/8" to 1/2". Vise grips required the shorties used in my bor...

Ahhhh! That would explain why you don’t draw ‘em anymore!Greg_Lewis wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 3:43 pm Well I do remember him saying that he didn't like my arrowheads.
Fact remains, as long as you can read and understand what you drew…..or scribbled, good enuff!

Yes…..I sure noticed that!
Not at all like AutoCad, and all the very similar flavors from other vendors.

Re: A question about engineering drawings....
We were going to get SolidWorks at the last place I worked. The mothership had it, but we were using my old AutoCad 2000. Reason being, all the plate I got cut from our supplier had AutoCad 2000. If I gave drawings to them, made from most anything else, they had to redraw to burn on their tables. Th...

No - Fusion is not free any longer, but all things considered, once you learn something, the time you spend relearning is time gone that we oldsters never get back -> so what's it worth? $300 a year or something similar? A month's worth of gas in the car.... I’ve never used Fusion. First Au...

Re: A question about engineering drawings....
Everything I do is 2D. I’m old school, and it’s all I need! I was using AutoCad 2004LT, until I moved 9forcibly really) to Windows 7, and 2004 isn’t compatible with Win 7. Since the newer versions of AutoCad are yearly subscriptions, I switched to Draftsight, then free, starting with the beta versio...

Re: A question about engineering drawings....
Ahh…. Good thing! Not enough info on that one view, along with redundant info. I think I’d just redraw the whole thing. Piece parts, weldment, and machine detail on one drawing, for each individual assembly, if it all fits uncluttered. Certainly not all the different assemblies on one drawing though...

Wow! That’s not high school…..it’s middle school stuff!
If that is all I got for a drawing, I could not build that thing.
So many questions…..

Re: A question about engineering drawings....
In the heavy equipment industry, it is common to have two views of the same part, on one page. A simpler example, would be a side plate on a loader chassis. Lots of dim’s for X & Y, for the general shape of the plate to be burned, and then there’s holes, & slots that are also burned. There’s...

Re: 24.0 volts, 1.32 pounds, and 7000 Horsepower!!!
Giggle...ever actually seen a 7000 HP electric motor? Maybe, although I'm not sure any more. I worked for a time in the early '70s around big rod mills and ball mills used to grind up copper ore. I don't remember the specifics, but the motors on those puppies had to be in the many hundreds to a few...
