Re: ID rifle or ammo

golfpin, I know this is a necro thread. I don't get out much anymore. ;-) The rifle you mention in the magazine picture, is likely a "SVT-40" Soviet semi auto. Which used the 7.62x54 rimmed cartridge. https://www.google.com/search?q=svt-40&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&rlz=1...

Re: Obama's Executive Order on Gunsmiths

Not an actual EO, or even an EA. Just more of O-hole using his Administration lackeys to do his bidding of making the 2A as difficult as possible for law abiding Americans.

Re: Q: Least damaging way of removing id markings on tools

diyer said I remember talking to a Police Officer once, I forget what the topic was, but he said, "Justice is worse than the crime!" The problem with the "Criminal Justice System" is that there is only justice for the criminals. None for their victims. Commyfornia made it even wo...

Re: I've got a math problem

Thank You Gentlemen. Actually the [.475 of a degree] angle quote came from the legend of the 30-06 Springfield specs. in Donnelly's "Handloaders Manual of Cartridge Conversions". {Body angle...(degrees/side).... .475} I can only guess they pulled the dimension off of another "fuzzy sc...

I've got a math problem

Which I just don't seem to be able to get my head around. Weak at math from get go. A cylinder that has an inside taper of .475*. I need to know how much the ID of the large end is diminished for every .010" that is faced off the large end. This is a 30-06 Spr sizing die that the maker screwed ...

Hard to argue with NASA sat photos. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2415191/And-global-COOLING-Return-Arctic-ice-cap-grows-29-year.html Scroll down a bit and check the pics. Very convenient to promote a "THEORY" that if it gets warmer it is caused by GloBull warming. If it gets col...

A volcano in Greenland puked out more ash and CO2 in a week than all of human kind have donated to our atmosphere since the beginning of the industrial age 150 yrs ago. Much is said in the BSM of the few Greenland glaciers that are receeding. Nothing is said of the other 200+ that are getting thicke...

Re: How to properly align a tailstock to a dividing head?

Stevec, the only critical measurement is the size of the through hole, to create a press fit for the handle. All the other dimensions can be of the close enough type. Even that one can be made "close enough" if you are willing to drill one more hole. Make the handle a semi-snug slip fit. ...

Supposed to warm up, 2 inches of snaw last night, and 8 predicted for tonite into monday. So I'm guessing you don't really want to hear of my weather woes here in SoCal. Mowed the lawn in shorts, T-shirt, and barefooted. 77* F here today, sunny calm with high scattered cirrus clouds. 80* yesterday ...
