Re: Eccentric Engineer: New supplier. Injectors and more!

Anthony, I have a few narrow gauge projects on the list and look forward to buying your injectors in the future. I would like to give some feed back and make a suggestion. Would you please consider fabricating the injector body with 1/8 or 1/6 npt 5/16 mtpt thread connections to the body? This would...

Re: "Heart Link" Operation Principle

The correct thing to ask here is how is the motion of a heart link different from a swing link (assume verticle for this discussion). In both cases heart or swing, the links use gravity pulling down to create a horizontal vector of force the will push the lead truck back to the center and minimize t...

Re: New member

An easier way to fabricate the brake beams parts is by using commercial clevises and steel brake beams closer to prototype beam sizes ( should be about 1.5x 5 on the prototype). All of it should be assembled with pins and cotters. The 1/2 x 1/2 is way over scale but also requires you to fabricate a ...

Re: Allen Harper Cylinder to saddle connection

Peter, The 4-4-0's do not use the same front end attachement as the 10 or the mogul. Look at the prints. Instead of a contoured lower / upper horn it uses a piece of 1/2x1/2 CRS. This requires the cylinder to be machined differently. One might even be able to bolt the saddle in from the side. I know...

Re: Allen Harper Cylinder to saddle connection

Lets get back to the original post shall we? Looking for a better way to hang the saddle is lie of the small cast support ears. Which I might add is already a cast iron part.

Re: Boiler Washout

When I worked in Nuclear, the Narcol training guy showed us the difference in suspended and non suspended solutions of contaminantes in the water with just two bottle on his desk. His point being that suspension of contaminants was the most important in the process, more so than Cation beds and othe...

Re: Boiler Washout

Hey Fred, Art had suggested soluble machine oil to me some where along the way. What oil do you use? I ordered a jug from Mcmaster but the label read like water based machineing fluid (I guess that would be water soluble oil) . I have not tried it yet.
