Signals: Stick relay....

Does anyone out there have a background in prototype railroad signals? Particularly, Absolute Permissive Block. I need some explanation on how the "stick" relay is wired in to maintain the voltage for the trailing section lights. Specifically, how does the whole circuit reset its self when...

Commercial Air Brake Valve

Does anyone out there have any experience with commercial truck air brake valves? Can these be used to for automatic brake actuation? I saw this being done in the UK at Leighton Buzzard on the 2' gauge stuff.

Yes I know its out of scale..

Re: Butterfly Snow Plow Plans.

One upon time, a snow storm hit Atlanta and Rich spent several hours that night making a snow plow to go on the front of the ballast cars. I have seen a piece of a video with John Shuck's dad and I think Bill Junior bucking snow. It had to be way back, as the loop wasn't even finished at the Old NGL...

Re: Attaching the smokebox

Who made the boiler? Is the smoke box the same diameter? Perhaps make it from 9" structural tube and slip fit one over other, then use a bolt ring to hold the two together. Don't tap either one. Nuts and bolts. Sure rivets would be prototypical, but you might want to take it apart one day. I do...

Re: Equalizing springs

Kevin, You are asking two different questions. Springs are there to take up the shock (Impulse) and irregularity of the track, that is to keep you glued to the track. Equalization is there to 1) distribute the locomotive rail loading and ultimately 2) reduce frictional losses because of too much wei...

Another way of looking at it is we HAD eletrified passenger line in the United States 70 years ago ( eastern corridor, interurbans, stre...

Re: Eccentric Engineer: New supplier. Injectors and more!

Anthony, I have a few narrow gauge projects on the list and look forward to buying your injectors in the future. I would like to give some feed back and make a suggestion. Would you please consider fabricating the injector body with 1/8 or 1/6 npt 5/16 mtpt thread connections to the body? This would...

Re: "Heart Link" Operation Principle

The correct thing to ask here is how is the motion of a heart link different from a swing link (assume verticle for this discussion). In both cases heart or swing, the links use gravity pulling down to create a horizontal vector of force the will push the lead truck back to the center and minimize t...

SchwinnColl,
Post a few pics of the brake linkages to the group and I can tell you what to change. Should look something like the attached.
