Re: cast iron piston ring source

I bought mine from Cole's recently for the Clishay which also uses the 1.25". No problems with service or delivery.

Re: Is the Clishay a successful loco?

Well, I am not surprised that some builders have found the original boiler design unsatisfactory. Altering the valves so that they are o.950" long with Exhaust cavities 0.500" long and setting the eccentrics( Now with TWO set screws ) so that steam is admitted just on dead centres has just about ha...

Not to take away from any of those threads I would like to start one just to get in one spot successful modifications that others have done to improve th...

Re: 3/4" Clishay Build

You might want to consider building everything except the trucks as per the book and build trucks to run on the 4.75/5" gauge. You now have a narrow gauge engine. Some fiddling may have to be worked out on the chain lengths. Wish you well on your project.

Re: Building my 1.5" scale Clishay as a beginner

Not exactly sure what you are asking. If you take the engine bed plate, 201, and make a block of it then overlay it on the 107 bed plate the holes from 201 and 107 should match up. From what I can see is that all of this will wind up being 7-3/8 off of the 107 reference edge. These holes will be use...

Re: Building my 1.5" scale Clishay as a beginner

I believe that the drawing is copied from the book which indicates that the layout be from the center lines due to some offset of holes. Once that is done it can be re-dimensioned from an ordinate point, lower left.

Re: Cass Scenic Railroad trip

I have stayed many times at Cass in the cabins (restored workers houses) Very reasonable when I was there. Go to the Cass website. I think that the contact information and reservation info is there.
