Re: Shelf Life

Most of their parts can be replaced with off the shelf components. I wouldn't pay $200 for a limit switch either. I probably could get the same part cheaper from one of my suppliers.

Re: Shelf Life

Yes, mine has the tool changer. The only problem that I see so far with me doing the controls, is the VFD for the spindle. Haas is really proud of their replacement drive. I may put in a different brand drive.

Re: Speaker selection switch, and more than you wanted to know!

What a score! In my shop, I have a low/medium end Sony receiver and 4 AR book shelve speakers, and yes, the neighbors can sometimes tell when I am in the shop. The best one is my next door neighbor had his stereo cranked on a local radio station. Not to be out done, I was on the same station and I c...

Re: Shelf Life

Harold, this one is missing controls but the iron is in great shape. I am going to install Centroid on it. "If you can build, be happy and build! compressor room, separate grinding room, wood shop, welding area, car shop..." Here in New Hampshire, you can build, then watch the property taxes skyrock...

Re: Shelf Life

I too have to rearrange my shop. Just bought a Haas TM-1 and now where to put it. My shop is 660sq ft. and most stuff is on wheels. The lathe and BP clone is not. Hopefully, Mike of RRSC can put on the addition at his house and then his CNC Bridgeport will go home. That will free up some space. I ha...

Re: Vertical Band Saw: Useful?

The Tannewitz saws that we used at the foundry did friction cutting. And yes Spro, lots of sparks. Sometimes they would leave the boxes of blades too close and set them on fire.

Re: Help identify this welder

Yes, Century did make the Snap-On Welders. Any parts that I need for mine, YA212, come from Century.

Sometimes its purchasing. This capacitor is cheaper than the safety cap that the engineer wants; lets buy that!

Re: Opening Evaporust 5 gallon pail

Tractor Supply sells a 5 gal pail lid that has a screw on cover. The outer edge snaps on, the the center is screw on. I'm sure the same cover can be bought at HD or Lowes or similar stores. This is what I use for my Evaporust bucket.

Re: Restored 2-4-4-2

Don also had built a 3/4" sc Skookum before the 1.5 sc that was a true compound, however, it didn't work very well. That one is in a box in pieces at Mike McClure's shop. At the time of Don's passing, he was working on a compound Vulcan locomotive, I have that one, in parts and pieces. The fabricate...
