Re: Patio's projects

This is a perfect solution while the highest restriction level on outdoor burning is being enforced Pat. Kudos to you.

Re: End Of Life

Wish I had a gantry crane for putting some patients into the back of our aid cars. 300 is not that big. By necessity, our stretches are now rated for 600 pounds...

Re: 6' rotary cutter blade broke off

On mine the gearbox looks good and the PTO shaft is good so a new bottom end should get me running for a long time. The deck looks like trash but it should be safe for doing the pasture topping. When I got this used unit a couple years ago for $200 dollars it was in pretty rough shape. I did not rea...

Re: 6' rotary cutter blade broke off

The counter rotating blades sort of focus debris to the center rear; heavy stuff opens the flaps[s]. Grass mostly stays under I think; it's hard to tell from the seat. If I cut thick tall grass, there will be some lumps of gathered dead material left in my wake. For just topping weeds I suspect it ...

Re: 6' rotary cutter blade broke off

The blades counter-rotate, it's all shaft drive so they stay in sync. The drive shaft speed is 550 max, I run it a little under that. There are 3 gear boxes and I did calculate the final ratio when I first got the thing but I don't remember what the result was. It's a UK made agriculture thing they...

Re: 6' rotary cutter blade broke off

Do they rotate in the same direction? How fast do you turn it?

Re: 6' rotary cutter blade broke off

It separated at the point where it swivels. The weakest point as there is maybe 1/2" of material on either side when new. The blade weighed about 12 pounds so yes Harold, it shook a bunch.. :) I found both parts and it looks to have been weakened over time and there is evidence of fresh break at abo...

Re: 6' rotary cutter blade broke off

I backed it into the shop and will put it on the car lift to get to top and bottom. At first look at the attaching bolts and nuts a saw that they were welded so as to not come loose I suspect. Oxyacetylene and/or plasma cutter may be in order.

6' rotary cutter blade broke off

I was using my 6' rotary cutter in some very light stuff in the pasture and one of the blades broke off. Made a mess out of the side of the brush hog as it departed. It broke where the bolt goes through (the thinnest part). Man did it make a noise and throw the unit out of balance. I do not have to ...

Tour of the 747 assembly building

Had a great tour of the Boeing 747 main assembly building in Everett Washington today. Largest building footprint in the world.

It is amazing to see two 747's and four other full size aircraft nearly completed in one building. My legs are tired.

Re: Lathe setup device

I made a device that uses a light to indicate on center. I sandwiched a very thin piece of sheet metal between two plastic inserts and stacked them on a steel column with a bolt to hold the whole stack together. I then ran a wire from the base of the device to the thin piece of metal with a 9v batte...
