Re: WHO NEEDS CNC?

Hello modelers (who are still using obsolete technics now and then), Talking to several life steamers, I detected a simple method to fix hexagon material in a standard 4 - chuck instead of using a 3 - chuck seems to be unknown by many of them? Shift the hexagon material into the chuck, turn it a bit...

Re: Another 2900 project...

Hello SF 2900, That's a very big boiler, indeed! And we thought our boilers for the Y, my A and the J under construction were big ones  but that of your fat 2900 is about 50 % bigger! Like that engine, the prototype of which will be returned to service next? year, too. I got a lifelong membersh...

Re: Museum of Obsolete Drafting Technology

Hi John, Very nice case filled with good old tools! Weren't bad times these tools were all we had! When I wrote my diploma work, the first HP handheld calculator was a revolution then (and is still fine for technical calculations). At the time I normally used an elder calculator stick which my Prof....

Re: My N&W class A 1239 (gauge 5", 1 in 10 scale)

Peter, Jack and PRR5406, Thank you all for your kind recognition! Knowing well my A isn't complete yet, your words encourage me to finish it with enthusiasm. But sorry for I am busy now with boiler repairs and inspection of my first engine DB class 44 1167. We are planing to run a record ore train, ...

Re: Alcalde & Coalfield High Line

Hello Jack,
Bright idea :!: which solves all the problems of 2 - gauge rails using both the turntable and the steaming rails!
I'm watching your progress with great interest - a lot of hard work!
Got those funny photos from Down Under just recently :)

All the best by

Re: My N&W class A 1239 (gauge 5", 1 in 10 scale)

NP317, thank you! Now some more information regarding steaming by means of the stoker. Pure anthrazite coal of high quality seems to be hard stuff for the stoker :? . I did some work to improve the coal crusher but still given coal size wasn't the best to be fed by the stoker. A steamer had develope...

Re: Choice of prototype

Hello EVGEN, What about building this monumental giant of the former Soviet Union? Found these rare informations in a German magazine just recently. May be a thrill for you to construct and build this engine and make it run successfully as a model - other than the prototype, which failed? Seven(!) p...

Re: How to size an Injector?

Hello, just my 2 cents: For our engines are running all about the same speed (as Anthony pointed out already), steam consumption depends mostly on the effective drawbar pull. This is about 20 % of the friction weight (max) of a typical engine. Specific steam consumtion per hp - hour is about 50 poun...

Re: Eccentric Engineer Announcement - Small Scale Injectors in stock!

Anthony, Received your small injector some weeks ago. The German customs had to be paid, but no problems! Now I mounted it to a medium size stationary boiler as main feedwater supply (photo). It works as promised and intended :D : - succing water from about two feet below, - no dripping / water inle...
