Re: My N&W class A 1239 (gauge 5", 1 in 10 scale)

Hello fans, During two meetings at Oberursel and Kassel the A ran very well :D . A friend of mine worked as engineer most of the time with passenger trains and had fun. The power reverse now works on hot (boiler) water as intended. The stoker had some difficulties regarding the movements between loc...

Re: 90-Ton 2-8-2 Build, 1.5"/ft. Scale, 7.5" Gauge

Hello Russ, Your engine looks fine with all those useful details! Should be a pleasure to it's engineer. Maybe the reason of trapped air in the water glass is it's height above top of the boiler? Should not happen when under steam yet. Installing double checks in the oil feeds sounds so right! I did...

Spring meet at DBC-T Oberursel

Hello steamers,
Just some photos of my A 1239 steaming at the new site of the DBC-T. It's a combined 5 " / 7 1/4 " railroad near Frankfurt /Germany which was renewed during the last three years. All went well at this first steam meeting, we had fun :D !

Best regards

Re: My N&W class A 1239 (gauge 5", 1 in 10 scale)

Hello fans, Just one more step to finish the project: The working power reverse :D All parts are made of bronze or stainless steel. It's now working on air but is intended to work on water taken from the boiler  . Max force is about 80 pounds, travel is + / - 21 mm. The (plastic) piston ring i...

Re: Another 2900 project...

Congratulations, SF 2900!
Your running gear looks awesome from any angle :) !
You may be able to run your engine on steam to the same schedule as the prototype 2926 will do! :?:

Best luck to you by

Re: My N&W class A 1239 (gauge 5", 1 in 10 scale)

Thank you Tim for your interest! Tomorrow the A will be shown on the exhibit 'Intermodellbau Dortmund' running on air. Thus I worked a little harder during the last weeks to get it completed. Here's a photo of the driver's side of the cab including the 24-RL brake stand. The (upper) independent brak...

Re: Locomotive Roller Test Stand

Hello bill4227, You're looking for suggestions how to built your roller stand? For my class A I found a simple construction using pairs of standard ball bearings. Thus the driving axles take a stable position  . Rugged ball bearings of some diameter improve running a great deal compared to sma...

Re: PTFE film for Brake Valve wafer / disc

Hello Mike,
No problem, as long as the support of the disc by a (complex) curved disc is made carefully. That is recommended to avoid stress to the diaphragma, anyway.
Years ago I built a similar brake reduction valve which is still in use.
Best regards
