Re: Whistle advice?

Since the volume of the chamber lowers the tone and length lowers the note (maybe someone has tried this..), what would happen if a four chime was reduced to a two chime. So each half is one note and a web is taken partially to the end of the barrel so that the single chamber is one long one ending ...

Re: Foundry Question

'OK Foundry' in Richmond, VA. https://okfoundry.com/

Had some loco cylinders cast there a long time ago. They were 1" scale 0-6-0 cylinders cast without coring the bore. Even so, they machined like Meehanite they were so pure - no holes and no hard spots. They do excellent work.

That engineer knows Dave - he blew the horn - "Hay Dave" Didn't you notice the nice lady in the green blouse tried and tried to get you to notice her....come on Dave! She wanted to take you home. This is great! Makes me happy to see commerce keeping the rails alive. Now we need to increase US made p...

Re: Electric wheelchair motors

Glenn, Yes; in answer to your question. Wheelchair motors and their gearboxes are quite sophisticated and a very commercially reliable product. There are many aftermarket speed controls for them too. I built a 'segway clone' a while back and used two wheelchair motors that were geared down again (vi...

Re: TODAYS PRODUCTION

Alright Dave - we're gonna check out some cooking videos. While we are totally off topic - remember the 'snuggles' hot dog buns? I've made a pan for eight of the authentic bun shape - the beauty is you can make rye or pumpernickel hot dog buns or whatever.... I'm in charge of baking at my house. OK ...

Re: 14 ga. Steel Material cutting

The shears also waste a piece (curl) of metal the width of the blade for the entire cut. I didn't measure its width but it seems like about a quarter inch wide. I hate to throw things away much less waste them. The shears are also not easy to run along a guide for a straight cut. ----bad suggestion....

That's a common mistake many people make - as the OP writes (great story BTW!). So the foot switch is not just for the 'expert' on the drill press....

Re: 14 ga. Steel Material cutting

jlakes85, These shears work pretty well. I tried to resist buying a HF tool but needed a shear in a pinch so bought one. The next better one is a few hundred dollars too... We'll see I guess.... I'm cutting 20Ga 304 SS and figured I would be driving back to HF for a return but so far so good. But a ...
