Re: Locomotive Axle Boxes

This is how the slots are configured with the toolpaths. How was the radius figured ? I don't remember but it was derived from the opposite side both all the way from the bottom and from the top of the pedestals then plotted - seems large but laid out in CAD, it appears to work:

Re: Locomotive Axle Boxes

I have always just cut a flat sided "V" and not worried about the theoretical arc. Considering how little the axles actually move in our models, it is hardly worth the trouble unless you really WANT the theoretical shape. Bill, you have basically answered my question but I do not know how much is '...

Re: Locomotive Axle Boxes

When I milled mine with a regular manual mill, the plans called for filing it out as you describe; the radius center would be the opposite axlebox. Before I did that (took hours with small safe-edged file) the axle could only rise and fall, it could not tilt. This is what looks like will happen - o...

Re: Anyone know what has happened to RMI Railworks?

David says I'm not his only customer. He has been in contact! I wonder if I'm their only impatient customer? 4 to 6 weeks isn't really that bad....if you're not impatient that is.... We shall see.... My hope actually is that I'm wrong about RMI Railworks and also wrong to post about them here. But a...

Locomotive Axle Boxes

Some detail on an axle box...are the slots in them that fit the pedestals cut with an 'hourglass' shape for tilting movement of the axle? Or are they left with ample pedestal side clearance for some tilt for uneven track. How much? I made a program to NC the hourglass slots but wish to check here wi...

Re: Mind-Blowing Ebay Electronics Deals

Yes, sorry for the highjack too. I was basically substantiating what was being discussed about some of the questionable components (resistors for example) available out there for great prices compared to Dale, Ohmite and other really good quality manufacturers. But case by case, you may not need aud...

Yes and the lack of 'customer support' and honesty will greatly contribute to that lack of capital.

Re: Mind-Blowing Ebay Electronics Deals

And if you work with Arduino or Blue Berry you can buy knock offs of them and any peripheral card that you want for pennies that mimic the real thing using the 'real thing' software to program them. It's like Trump says - "China is eating our lunch". a) Arduino comes from Italy. b) It's Open Source...

Re: Anyone know what has happened to RMI Railworks?

It must be that they are short handed and not able to keep up - at least that is what I would like to believe. I have talked to them (David Coster) a number of times on another number that isn't related to RMI at all, but another company - "Dial Security", but I get stories. I've tried to remain up ...
