rkcarguy, please upload your sketch. I'm curious of what you've came up with using these bearing on bolsters.

Re: SP NG Diesel #1 (GE 50T) - Triennial or Bust

Another great reference photo I recently came across.
Also apparently a sister locomotive of SPng #1 sleeps in the big railroad shop in Guatemala City.

Re: SP NG Diesel #1 (GE 50T) - Triennial or Bust

Looks good! At least you’ve go a good start, I’m still working on paper and looking online at the different options for parts.
Came across few more photos of GE 50 ton trucks. The last two photos are not quite the same as SP#1 but close.

Re: SP NG Diesel #1 (GE 50T) - Triennial or Bust

I pretty sure the SP1’s width is 9’. At least that’s the rough width I get scaling it up. I checked RMI’s webpage and their 2.5” scale SP1 is 22.5” wide which would confirm 9’ also. If I’m missing something please correct me.

Re: SP NG Diesel #1 (GE 50T) - Triennial or Bust

 now the obvious question arises, what is that platform for? Jack pad?

Re: SP NG Diesel #1 (GE 50T) - Triennial or Bust

Disregard the above question on side frame variations. I now see it's just an illusion due the 45 degree angle brace on that little platform that juts out on the top.

Re: SP NG Diesel #1 (GE 50T) - Triennial or Bust

Here's some close reference photos of the trucks on Sumpter Valleys GE 50Tonner. The photo of the truck assembly is interesting. Were there two variations of side frames GE,s 50tonners? I'm seeing some models with a V in the top of the sideframes and some models the top is a straight line. Also I'm ...

Re: SP NG Diesel #1 (GE 50T) - Triennial or Bust

About 5 years ago there was a Yahoo group Southern Pacific Narrow Gauge and they had Adobe drawings of sp1 on there, I haven't been able to find the group anymore so we'll see if I find it I'll post a drawings or a link! The SPNG yahoo group is still up and they have some little giant info in the f...

Re: SP NG Diesel #1 (GE 50T) - Triennial or Bust

I'm planning on battery electric. Another reason I want to start with the truck is so that I can work out the mounting of the DC motor(s). I plan on 3D printing the headlight. :D I may end up using the #D part as an investment for a lost wax casing into aluminium. I'm more than happy to share plans...

Re: 12" gage truck sides

rkcarguy,
Long time lurker as I've been following your post comtiplating building my own 11.25" railroad. Thought you might be interested is these photos of trucks similar to your design. Not mine, came across them while searching for homemade trucks.
