Re: steel for black powder barrels

There was a noted barrelmaker in East Tennessee at the first quarter of the last century that made his own barrels from scrap. Re: steel for blackpoweder barrels

Well, I'm no expert, but given the lower pressures of Black Powder, I would feel safe in using ordinary Hot Rolled or Cold Rolled Steel for the barrel project. I cannot remember where, but I have seen octagon stock for sale on the 'Net. Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: Glass bedding question

Can you post a photo of how this looks when done? I can't picture the front lug removal in my mind---yet. TIA

When glass bedding a Mauser type action, are you supposed to remove the entire trigger/sear mechanism before applying the bedding material to the inletting? TIA!!

Re: Cut my first inside thread...

There has been quite a discussion on another site about this subject. I will agree with Harold (surprise, surprise!) When I am doing a blind hole. Re: Coal

Now I know why I designed with Propane in mind for my fuel of choice. I grew up by one of Southern's main lines----how the women really hated wash day when a train would come through--soot all over their nice clean laundry hanging on the line!

Re: my project

Pamela, I haven't seen any posts from you in several days. I hope that all is well and that nothing is wrong. I really do enjoy seeiing your fixtures and ways of doing things on a small lathe.
