I like the Bi-metal ones. Several shops in ebay that sell many grades and sizes.

Unless a motor is special as to features or sentimental value, it is normally quite cheaper to replace them than to repair.

Most interesting. I would have thought the bit spline drive would have been run dry to avoid accumulating and holding grit. Learn something every day.

100 ft of extension cord is acceptable if you use #12 wire - cords rated for 20 amps.

Try to straighten the shaft. Plan B, turn a new one. Enlarging the hole is not a good idea. If you have access to a hydraulic press, you can probably straighten it enough to make it fit properly. Ratios other than an exact 2:1 are frequently used so that each tooth contacts every one in the mating gear to balance wear. Not essential in a replacement set.

Actually, you do not even have to match the exact ratio.

I would agree with John and look for a gear set from something that could be adapted. A right angle drive from a brush hog comes to mind.
