Re: So what with the spindle in my pump?

You show two different views.

However from my understanding of the Little engines pumps, the horizontal spindle is likely a shuttle valve that changes direction of the passages thus reversing stroke.

Re: Casting gear blanks from scrap aluminium

Nothing like the smell of molten aluminum hitting a concrete floor....

Gets my spidey senses going when I'm at work!

Re: Stolen Whislte

They are indeed CP Huntingtons made by Chance. The cabs are labeled CP HUNTINGTON. The whistles are nothing more than either lunks or knockoffs. Bells probably barely ring, but you probably can't even hear them since the "automated ringer" keeps the clapper on the bell most of the movement...

Re: Little Engines 2.5" Scale Air Pump

Today I wanted to make some progress on the castings. I wanted to get more done, but encountered a setup issue that required me to think differently. First, cleanup of one face of the casting was needed. I aligned as best as possible, then started machining away. Next, center drill, then a large dri...

Little Engines 2.5" Scale Air Pump

Well, finally got some time after taking care of major tasks on the fleet earlier this winter to start this project. Mike sent the castings promptly, and there was an issue with the drawings -- which was remedied quickly by Mike. Thanks! Started off by machining the LH/RH Bobbins as well as Valve Co...

Looks like a 1.5" or 2" Lunkenheimer single chime on the engines. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lunkenheimer-1-1-2-200-psi-Steam-Air-Whistle-/321648216211?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ae3ba4893 http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-1-2-Diameter-Lunkenheimer-Single-Chime-Steam-Whistle-w-Valve-Traction...

Re: Little Engines Air Pumps

Getting ready to do some machining on mine in the next month. I have been perusing the drawings. For the valve head, I intend to purchase two 1-1/4"-12 taps from McMaster, the standard tap as well as a bottom tap. I notice that the drawing shows a groove past the thread. Is this critical to the...

Guess it's a good thing we get along with both gauges at the WF&P :-)

Re: Looking for a 12" or 15" ga Cagney or similar early day

Feel free to send me a PM about standards and such. I am one of the roundhouse regulars, and I have a fair bit of information. You probably did ride the WF&P in the late 40's up by the Airport, as we were at Brown road then. We are celebrating 75 years in 2015. Keep an eye out for events to come...

Re: Little Engines Air Pumps

Do you recall how you picked up this sample package? Have a contact by chance?

I need to figure out how I'll get a bunch. If this goes well, may need to equip up to 10 compressors, if not more...

Re: Little Engines Air Pumps

I will also try my hand at a build thread also.

Just need to find a line on these umbrella valves...
