I'll go with the ubiquitous Kinkos. Maybe the blue print shops are less. But when the closest one to me is is 25 miles and Kinkos is a mile away...and gas is $4.25 per gallon.....kindaofa no brainer. Besides with Kinkos I just want a fast copy and I get to play with the machines myself. Instead of ...

But when it comes to hauling the public for profit, then 15" really is the "minimum gauge" Sir Heywood did his research and it still holds true today. I don't know a single for-profit entity running 12" gauge that doesn't say they'd like to go to at least 15" for higher hauling capacity. Yes, you c...

one of the reasons that the gladhands were invented is so that in the event of an uncoupling, the connection would be severed (by means of the gladhands aligning appropriately that the trainline pressure would blow the gladhands apart). My question is why would you use dummy glad hands, and quik con...

Re: Let' See

Will $5.00 gas and associated higher costs cause OTHERS to think twice - or thrice - about getting into the hobby? Probably. I'm not quite so sure about 'getting into the hobby'.... Anyone can get into the hobby. I doubt it is a matter of travel when they are interested in the hobby. If they want t...

i have better luck setting up the camera on a tripod, and setting the timer so that it will count down, hence allowing you to press the button and then let teh camera calm down as it counts down.

works well for railpictures...

This is quite interesting! I have to ask, though.. Would this put any type of pressure onto your collets that may damage it? Granted, I understand that it's being pulled into the taper, which would "secure" it... Plus, if you think about it, you're putting just about the same type of pressure onto t...

Do you have any prints or anything of the sort that might assist us in creating something like this? I particularly like your design. Do you know if something like what you've created might be adapted for a higher elevation (say to allow something 6" tall to fit underneath?).... I am thinking that o...

Here I am, sitting my fat butt on the end of the bridge frame at FLLS, so it doesn't tip over (it was positioned halfway across the abutment, so it could be dragged across easily). (shameless plug for FLLS) Come out to FLLS and see what we're doing now! Plent...
