Re: Help me Comprehend my MC-60 Controller

If you'd like a consistent measure of rotation to produce the same increase of speed regardless of position, linear taper what you need.

Re: Get me up to Speed on DC Motors

So you think adding two thousand dollars' worth of capacitors to a 1" sander might not be a good idea. I think it would be an awesome idea, as long as it isn't my money. :D I am not known for my brains, but I don't think you can run a DC motor on AC. I can and have. I'll add one or more of t...

Re: Get me up to Speed on DC Motors

Steve, Did you figure out the current needed to charge a 12 F. capacitor from 0 V. to 80 V. in a few seconds? Miami might grow dim every time you start the machine. You might be surprised the size SCRs needed to provide charging current, especially at less than 100% speed. Next you should want to fi...

Re: Cut a Section from a Plastic Coke bottle

A few watts of the correct frequency LASER mounted to the tool post, a blower to extract the fumes to the outside, one or two RPM, no problem neatly and precisely cutting bottles all day long.

A cheaper alternative to the LASER might be a hot wire band saw attachment for the tool post.

Have you found this to be relevant for aluminum?
