The trailing truck for the 90 ton Mikado offered by railroad warehouse is similar. I built one of these locomotives. The only difference is the springs straddle the frame on top of the wheel. I'm sure it can be modified. I might be able to dig up the prints on it if you're interested. I looked at th...

All the railroads and manufacturers of steam locomotives from the first days of steam til the end were always looking for ways to improve. There was no set standard. The the railroads and manufacturers applied a technique that worked for them

Taper and Efficiency

It sounds to me a few people would rather ridicule Dave and his "techniques" rather than take what he is offering as a basic "rule of thumb." It is obvious his technique works for him and his locomotives by his videos. He's popping his safeties while working hard. This means he is getting sufficient...

I had a 2-8-2 that was coal fired and was using more steam than I could produce and consumed a large amount of coal. The secret is burning good quality coal and an arch. I made my arch out of .1875 SS and aquired some Austrailian Char. It burns so dam hot and has no smoke. Make sure you have good SS...

Pennsy E6s #460

I have an almost complete set of drawings, minus main frame, of the Pennsy E6s #460 offered from saturated steam in 1 9/16" scale. I also have quite a few photos of a locomotive back east of #460, think in 1 1/2" scale, if you're interested.
