Re: Screwcutting not picking up in the same place

How can you stop the lathe and reverse with the lead screw engaged? The carriage will still be "coasting" before stopping making it impossible to thread up to a shoulder. Unless the lathe will stop instantly, it won't work. Two opinions ,first-easiest is to thread towards the tail stock-second have...

Re: Trying to ID this older lathe

Big RED flag missing the compound in the picture and jaws in the chuck. Looks like a decent lathe with what looks to be a hand oil pump on the apron. Looks European kinda. But like a lot of old lathes parts are tuff to find. If the compound is missing it would half to be almost free before I would t...

Re: Huanyang VFD 2.2

That brand of VFD is so problematic that they are banned from discussion on Practical Machinist. As NP317 said for a cheap fix try replacing the pot ,that don't fix it buy a decent VFD.

Re: Unknown lathe

It's a "Franken" lathe still ain't worth much ,with the extras the high end of what I said. Again depending on your area and maybe a newby you might get a grand. Personally I would not be interested if it was free, sorry harsh but my opinion.

Re: Unknown lathe

Depending on what is available in your area $200-700 . And that also is dependent on what if any tooling ie chucks and such come with it.

Re: Jet 12x36 lead screw comes out

Just went out and looked at my lathe ,the lead screw will slide through the end bracket. You should have a sheer pin of some sort in the left end where the screw joins the gear box. And of course the the screw should have a cross hole in the end where it goes into the gear box shaft.
