Re: Can't Get Hole Drilled Through Sandblast Cabinet

And even with a punch you still need to make a hole for the bolt that pulls the 2 pieces together !! I would use a 6MM/1/4 bit at 1000-1500 RPM and use a LOT of force on the drill motor. I can not believe that cabinet material can be that hard/tough. Drills need the proper speed [SFM] to cut properl...

Re: Parting tool holder

Blade has to be thinner than the insert for clearance. So GTN 3 should be 3MM wide right?

Re: Jet 1236P

Depending on how old it is anything made 2000 up should be a gearhead with D1-4 spindle . Tooling no issue as to tool post -centers etc. They came with follow rest-steady rest,3&4 jaw chucks and faceplate. Normally dual voltage single phase -can be wired 110-220. If by some chance it is a belt drive...

Absolutely, most important thing is how much bed wear does it have.
Glenn
That lathe has a hardened bed so unless really abused should not be a issue.
OP should jump on it if in good shape,as 12X36 imports are around $4500 + now.

Re: Logan lathe

Location has a LOT of bearing on the price ! Also tooling chucks-toolpost etc. I personally do not care for threaded spindles as I tend to do a fair amount running in reverse, that said millions of lathes were made that way with no problems in use. If it is under power run it up and down across the s...

Don't pull the core out without a keeper ,you'll lose the magic force ! LOL Dried gummy oil maybe run some ATF/Acetone down around the button and work it back and forth.

The step bit starts it's own hole ,then keep drilling to the desired size. You do much hole making in sheet metal you will love them.

Re: Drilling Hole In Sandblast Cabinet For Bulkhead Adapter

Just like a regular bit ! The end has a normal drill grind on it and each step is sharpened . Bits are marked with each size ,what I do is wrap a piece of tape around the bit on the step above the desired.

Re: Drilling Hole In Sandblast Cabinet For Bulkhead Adapter

Get a "step bit" multiple sizes on one bit ,designed for sheet metal work. They make a set of three either 1/16 or 1/8 steps depending on the bit size. In US Harbor freight has them cheap and seem to work well for home shop use, have had a set for years.
