Bridgeport/clone leadscrew question

How far does the X axis travel for one full turn on the X axis handle for a bridgeport?

I am putting a power feed on my Gorton I-22 and need to get a new graduated dial. Mine does .200 for one turn but will not go on the outside end of the adapter/shaft extension.

Thanks.

I used the rotab to get the 15* angle. For the next one I will use the Kurt vise and just cut a piece of wood at 15* to get the angle ( I own many ways to get 15* on a piece of wood). The actual angle is not that important, +/- 1* is fine. The endmill IS 1/2". I don't have a lot of them, just t...

The burr does not matter as you say. It matters if it is a result of improper technique or procedures. If that's as good as it gets with 1018, that's fine.

The endmill has seen little or no use, so should be sharp, but it's not an expensive endmill.

Thanks Dave, I was talking about the burr in #3. There's not a lot of material choices in our small town. The .005 DOC was what I did for all the passes with the 5/16 end mill, partly because of the setup, partly worried about flexing the small endmill. I like the two V-blocks in the vise better. It...

I had a static converter for my Gorton I-22 at first but had to wire it directly to the spindle motor which didn't work out well. Then I got a new 5hp 3 phase motor and did the manual start no frills system mentioned above. This had the advantage of wiring into the machine panel, allowing all my mac...

Flycutter Project

I am spending a few hours making a flycutter I could buy for $15 on Ebay (no point going into that aspect). My question is why am I getting the large burr on the bottom of the tool groove on the exit side. The feed direction is away from the column on all passes. The material is 1018 mild steel, dia...

Thanks for the comments guys. I like the 6 inch Bison but can't quite justify the SET-TRU model for the extra 65%.

So a 6 inch Bison with 2 piece jaws and a front mount is on the plan, just have to wait for the budget to catch up with the plan (a concept I have seen lurking on the forum before this)

Where's my hat? not sure what you mean. If you mean what do I do for a living it's mostly construction these days, although today it is making some replacement kitchen cabinet doors for a local lady, construction being slow in the winter. Used to do forestry work but not much of that around what wit...

A Good Lathe Chuck

I am contemplating getting another chuck for my lathe (Grizzly 4003 12 x 36 Gear-head). It came with a 6" 3 jaw scroll chuck and an 8" 4 jaw independent chuck. I want a chuck with 2 piece jaws so I can make soft jaws for it. I am looking at Bison chucks which seem to be a good chuck. I am ...
