Having laid out the Firebox door, stay bolts, and clean outs; I am now working on the placement of the throttle valve and push pull rod. DSC_5626.jpg Using Solidworks to construct an assyembly as I go to get clearance ideas. Before anyone asks, not planning on using a massive Schedule 80 fitting on ...

Re: Converting a Baldwin 2-4-2 LYN to a Baldwin 2-4-4

I was able to get together with Pontiacguy who loaded my car down with steel supplies. While I was there (always staying 6 feet apart) he gave me a demonstration on drilling and reaming the tube sheets. Back at home I put the finishing touches on wiring in my welder. I am putting together the materi...

Re: Converting a Baldwin 2-4-2 LYN to a Baldwin 2-4-4

Charlie is the dry pipe pictures made of stainless steel?
Hey Dave.

That is the plan right now. A schedule 80 NPT coupler welded into the tube with all the inside parts made of stainless.

How are you doing out there. Hope you and your family are safe and healthy.

Re: Converting a Baldwin 2-4-2 LYN to a Baldwin 2-4-4

Retired for 90 days now. Seems I am busier than ever. Spent the first three months cleaning and painting the shop. New lighting and installed the air compressor system. Made six trips to the dump cleaning out stuff we don't need anymore. I was enrolled in two welding courses at the local tech/junior...

1 Inch Journal Boxes

Well I think they are one inch scale. They are too small for 1.5 inch. If you know I am wrong, please jump in with corrections. Part of my shop flush and I have no idea of where they came from. There are ten Journal Boxes, but only seven Lids, along with what appears to be a bolster. Price is $37.00...

Free to Good Home

I finally retired and am working my way thru the shop. Cleaning out, Painting and disposing of. These two items have been in the shop for close to ten years. They are headed out the door to a friend that sells scrap for his church work. I thought I would show these to the forum and offer them up for...
