What kind of trailing truck is on this Michigan Central

I love looking at old picture of locomotives and puzzling out the details they reveal. When this one showed up I was intrigued by the trailing truck design. Link to shorpy.com website of 1902 Michigan Central 4-4-2 picture :?: What kind of trailing truck is on this engine? - How does it swing around...

Kudo's to your solidworks skills and for sharing the details of your findings.
I'm equally impressed with the advancements in photo-realism rendering - I thought your SW pic was the finished part!

Re: stack material?

I'm looking for information on how the stack is mounted and connected with the petticoat. Ken, the RailRoad Supply design has the ID of the stack bored to accept the petticoat. The stack is bolted to the exterior of the smokebox shell, the petticoat is bolted to the smokebox interior. Click on pict...

...Someone once described making model snifter valves out of grease zerts, by removing the spring. Has anyone done this? Not quite your question, but I have Zerk fittings for cylinder cocks on my 0-4-0 Crab. I did not remove the spring, but cut it down to keep light pressure on the ball. They work ...

The ruling against Yale was a foregone conclusion when it came down to this:

Re: Where to get Drawbar for RF-31 ?

right in the middle of a project If you need an emergency fix, and have the tools (lathe, welder), I'd weld the broken nut on rod, then clean it up in the lathe to get the job done. If you don't have fabrication options, I'd get the specs for the drawbar (length, thread pitch) and call around like ...

I'll second that statement! I can pencil and paper sketch quickly and think 3-D in my head, but making the computer do it requires a new mindset!
