Re: What is it?

Flow divider? If it is for gas, not liquid, Flow reducer? The set screw on the lower plug suggests some kind of setting/adjustment that needs to be held and not changed.

Any clues on the internals?

Suggest checking out the fuel lines used by the model R.C. guys (planes, cars). They run an alcohol mix in their engines. Silicone-based instead of plastic, I think.

I ordered 4 pair of finished trucks Nov-15-2010 and received them March 18, 2011.

I too was surprised.

Re: Replacing Flues

I gotta say Corey, I was impressed when I saw it this past weekend. Not only did you have the boiler whole again and back on the frame, but the whole loco is back together (jacketing, cab, jewelry and all)! Job well done!

Re: sealing valve chest covers

Ray; I've used graphite impregnated paper gaskets with success on my crab. It's inexpensive, it never hardens up like something in a tube, doesn't get into the threads and doesn't leak. The Permatex copper is a good anti-corrosion substance for the bolts, but I don't think it is pressure rated like ...

Chris, Great stuff! Keep the tutorial information coming! I'd love to see a picture of how you position the unbent tube with the black marks in the bender.
