Re: Thinking of a Bridgeport CNC Conversion
Hi Bill, Its a 7 hour drive. I have a car trailer and a couple buddy's that don't mind a road trip. I figure I can get it back to Amherstburg for about 300-400.(gas, food, beer for when we get home) Only think I don't like is the 18" travel on the x, but I guess if I have anything longer I can ...

Re: Thinking of a Bridgeport CNC Conversion
I have sent out request for quote from a few places. Rockford ball screw, Hiwin, and Broussard Enterprises. Rockford had a Canadian company quote for me. We have dealt with this company at work and found their prices high. Hiwin sent me drawings but no quote yet and Broussard sent the lowest quote. ...

Re: Thinking of a Bridgeport CNC Conversion
OK, we have 2 seats of Powermill here. Very nice software. In surfing the internet for used older cnc's i have found that "Tree" cnc's can be had fairly cheap, almost the cost of the retro fit. Would all of these machines if built for CNC from the factory come with ball screws? I may need ...

Re: Thinking of a Bridgeport CNC Conversion
I don't really want to buy anything more. I like the size of the BP Mill. This would do most of what I need. I will not convert the machine if I cannot keep it manual as well. The 2 companies listed above keep the machines manual as well as cnc. I guess you could call it an option if you want to use...

Re: Thinking of a Bridgeport CNC Conversion
Jim, I was thinking of using the quill for the Z axis. Elrod cnc conversions use Centroid control. They have a good video on youtube. Link below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVlxLDNv-Tc AVlxLDNv-Tc There are some machines on sale like your Series I on Craigslist but I just wish I had more room. I...

Re: Thinking of a Bridgeport CNC Conversion
Bill The ends not the screw it self. Yes that is an art. We have a company in town that does it though. I work in Windsor Ontario. We have a very large tool shop base here. Jim, The way it sits I would not be able to fit the cars in. In my 2 car I have stuffed the Bridgeport, The cnc on a 2.5'x3' ro...

Thinking of a Bridgeport CNC Conversion
Hey Guys, I'm thinking about converting my Bridgeport mill to CNC. My TMC-1000 is a great little machine...but little. With a machine travel of 6" x 12" I have things that I cannot make for my car hobby. I have found that I do not use the BP as much as I did in the past before the CNC. The...

Re: Valve cover Badges
You've hit the nail on the head....also a bit more forgiving when they get a chip stuck to a sock or something. Unfortunately I am working in my attached garage and it seems that chips fly everywhere.
