Re: Allen Mogul: Packing in saddle assembly?
I’d be real careful breathing around that, concerned it might be asbestos based material added to keep heat in the pipes. The plans do not call for anything to be placed in that area, but I’ve heard (somewhere) of folks putting lead shot pellets to add weight for better tracking or traction. White g...

Re: shipping engines
Fred, when I got my boiler from Marty Knox he sent it via Old Dominion Freight Line and it came in at their terminal on Olive Road just east of Old Palafox. The terminal manager was extremely helpful , giving me a time to come in afternoon , when the commercial shipments were done. He picked up the ...

Re: Steam Pump need help identifying
Dan, thanks that is a great write-up and a nice pump you built! It certainly helps me understand What is needed. Hope someone recognizes these castings and points me to plans as detailed as your drawings. Guess I could try scaling yours down! Thanks again, Bill C.

Re: Steam Pump need help identifying
RN - wow, that is an awesome achievement, making a pump from scratch! Id love to see a “build thread” on that, have you posted about it anywhere?

Re: Steam Pump need help identifying
Anthony- thanks for those observations, hop it helps narrow down the possibilities so I can find plans.
RN - NP317- do you have a recommendation for me about where to look for plans? I do have some old magazine reprints of the VanBrocklin pump.

Re: Steam Pump need help identifying
Thanks for the replies. I have no idea what scale it is but at about 5” tall and 4” wide, I would guess it is made to be 1.5” inch scale. Bill Shields, do you have any idea who produced it or where I can get plans to finish it? If it would help, I can shoot a video of the parts and upload to my YouT...

Steam Pump need help identifying
A couple years ago I bought this 5 piece casting set off Ebay. The seller did not know the make and didn’t have any plans or prints. Please take look and see if you can help me identify them and if you know where I can get plans to build it. The large bore is about 1” and the small one is 5/8”. The ...

Re: Shop smith 10er verital mill conversion
Hi Shelby, I just saw your post and thought I could help since I have “been there and done that.” I converted a 10ER to a light duty mill back in 2004. I made some projects with it and had some fun. Here is a link to a write up I did back then: http://boyerfour.com/metal/mymill/Model%2010ER%20MetalM...
