Re: Running a British Injector above its rated pressure?

So that makes things somewhat easier here's my math;
Cyl Dia=3"
Stroke=4"
Cyl vol=7.07in3
Vol/rev=50in3

The cylinder volume would actually be 28.27 in3 and the Vol/rev = 113 in3, so you should recalculate based on those numbers.

You can look at the original manual for that lathe, with the exploded parts diagrams, at the Busy Bee site.

Re: What is an M8 thread?

If you determine the size of the register on chuck back, Little Machine Shop has a number of backing plates. I don't think that they have any with that spindle thread. But you might be able to adapt one of theirs to fit.

Re: What is an M8 thread?

Is the M8 actually the spindle thread? There are a number of the smaller chucks that use M8 (8mm diameter) bolts to fasten the chuck to an adapter plate, which can be made with whatever the proper spindle thread is.

Re: WTB 1/4" Reverse Elbow

I believe that Howard Gorin sells those, but I believe his are in bronze, not cast iron. I can't tell if the largest size would be big enough for 1/4 NPT, but I am sure Howard would be able to tell you.

Special Shapes,

has 1/2 inch brass angle, but it is only .028 thick, if that will help, in 36 inch lengths.

What size were the replacement roller bearings for the trucks, and where did you find them for that price?

Re: Slideway Oil or similar

KBC Tools sells way oil in 1 gallon quantity, or I think in Canada, 4L.

I'm pretty sure that's where I got my last supply.

Re: Is variable speed a worthwhile upgrade?

As I read their specs, both of the versions you refer to as having power downfeed are moving the entire head up or down with power, and not the spindle. Accordingly, you would not have any specific relationship between the speed of the feed and the speed of the spindle. As they talk about moving the...

Oil for Rotary Table

I have purchased one of the generic Chinese-made rotary tables. It is intended for the worm gear, and perhaps other parts, to run in an oil bath. The instructions, such as they are, say to fill the oil reservoir before using, but do not indicate anything about the type or weight of oil which should ...

shop lighting

I am planning to start construction on my shop in the next month. The open interior space will be 18 by 21 feet. I will use two-tube four foot fluorescent fixtures, on eight foot ceiling, for lighting. How many fixtures, and on what spacing, do people think will be necessary for appropriate illumina...
