Re: Sil-Phos Identification
You are going to be absolutely sure the area being plated is totally clean. Considering the nature of joints assembled with this stuff...the biggest challenge. Sulfuric acid baths do not alwats get the surfaces totally clean without a lot of mechanical cleaning. I have experimented with acid followe...

Re: Base single to 3phase system
Cross section of wire is wire.. insulation does not factor into electrical calculations. Generally this type of wire is insulated with what appears to be varnish The big question is how it is wound. Some coils are wound with layers of paper insulation. You will not know until you cut it apart....ass...

Re: Base single to 3phase system
The clutches will be the same no matter the input voltage for the main driver motor. So you need a transformer capable of 24 * 6 . VA WHICH IS NOT A LARGE OR EXPENSIVE LUMP of iron. Sounds like 24 or 25 gauge wire. Would suggest taking a resistance check of each coil and working backwards from there...

Re: Base single to 3phase system
I would put the clutches on some sort of fixed voltage power supply. It will be one transformer and probably a rectifier that should be easily isolated. Change the transformer and you can run them from straight 110V or 220v. You do NOT want the clutches dropping out at any time for any reason except...

Use the stuff they glue cars together with. This is not rocket science ..or make a song fitting plug and use loctite.

Re: Sil-Phos Identification
Interesting idea (copper plating). Assuming the plating does not get scraped off inside the firebox and it can be made to stick to the solder. In realistic world would recommend just running it and begin building a replacement. Based on known history and experience replacing these things -> would th...

Re: Sil-Phos Identification
Getting a soldered copper boiler apart and reusing the shell is more work than the copper is worth.

Re: Base single to 3phase system
Put the vfd upstream of everything. Depending on the vfd you want to then disable the power disconnect between the vfd and motor. Some vfds do not like having the load disconnected and will blow up. (Fry) Use the vfd to start and stop the motor. You need to consider how you will power the clutches.....

Re: Titanium advice
milling / drilling titanium alloys is a well known practice in the CNC world...getting started feeds and speeds are available from many of the tool suppliers...these speeds / feeds may not be efficient..but they will work....assuming you have a computer driving the tool at known parameters. if all e...

Re: Base single to 3phase system
coolant motors on a VFC running at 100% speed are generally not a problem...and a low HP VFC is the cheapest way to go for that. even if you have to purchase a couple of VFC drives and use them to do nothing except run the motors at 100% -> it is probably the least expensive option....just don't be ...

Re: Titanium advice
are you considering drilling BLADES or DISC?
material / coatings on blades is very different than the disc...and status of the coating on the blades....which i guess is pretty poor or the assembly would not be available for $200
