Re: Southern Railroad PS-4 Pacific Design Discussion
Well here I sit in a hotel in Maryland. I am suppose to be working on the drawings for the Rear Frame Extension but it continues to be a challenge. I took a few hours tonight and cleaned up a drawing that is part of the set to machine out Roger Goldmann's Cylinder and Baker valve Gear. Roger does no...

Re: BRIDGEPORT SERIES 1 "J" HEAD MILLING MACHINE
Well a new day. The Rustoliem Primer I used is not draying right. I have only had it on the shelf for ten years or so. Can't imagine the problem. We have to go out and pick upthe new car this morning so we will stop at the local paint store for a new quart. DSC_0225.jpg As to the scraping class that...

Re: BRIDGEPORT SERIES 1 "J" HEAD MILLING MACHINE
Is it possible you could post photos of your leveling feet and rollers? Sound interesting.
I have started to put on the primer for the base but to be honest I am off to sleep. Long day and we had to spend the evening buying a new car.

Re: BRIDGEPORT SERIES 1 "J" HEAD MILLING MACHINE
You are of course right.
I ended up having to shorten the arm to the one ton length.
It is a cheaper hoist without leg extensions so whe I picked up the mill after I pulled the knee I had to shorten the arm and pick it up from the back side to set it up on blocks for sanding the base.

Re: BRIDGEPORT SERIES 1 "J" HEAD MILLING MACHINE
Question for the day. Is there any other way to level a bridgeport other than metal shims under the four corners? Photos would be greatly appreciated.

Re: BRIDGEPORT SERIES 1 "J" HEAD MILLING MACHINE
Well not much time in the shop this weekend. Mostly I spent money on it. I had been borrowing a hoist to move things around so I finally spent the money on one for the shop. Also bought rags, sanding disk and forty feet of SO cord to wire it into the three phase. I did manage to sand on the base to ...
