Very nice Adam. Your backhead is something else! Beautiful detail.
The backhead on the Berkshire was lagged so we didn't have to do that. The prototype must have been a "warm" locomotive to operate.

Re: Nathan 4000C's in 1.5" Scale

And for some reason, something told me that when I did the cradle casting that I should put the brackets for the Nathan 4000 on the casting, just in case. Well the brackets are there as you can see in the photo. Then along came Anthony and Eccentric Engineer!!

Re: Smoke Box Stack Ratio

A curious question - Were there any prototype engines that split their smokeboxes like this?

Re: Nickel Plate 762

There is one C&O Kanawha being built. I would like to see a Pennsy J built from these parts.

Re: 1" Scale UP Northern and Other Locomotives

You are correct Rob in that Herb Votah's models were made primarily of wood and plastic although some aluminum castings were used for things like the drivers. The models were designed to move so one could watch the action of the rods and valve gear. I visited Herb on several occasions while in the D...

Re: Drawings

Truson is still around but the bulk of his drawing collection went to Roger Goldman of livesteamlocomotives.com. Roger has a listing of available drawings on his website.
Truson's 2-8-4 material went to me.

Piston Ring Port Sizing

Has anyone come across any standard for the maximum port size (along the circumference of the ring) that cast iron piston rings can slide over without danger of scuffing the ring and/or port, based on ring OD and thickness?
