Use it for lapping or layout or what ever suits you, just don't think of it as a surface plate, it's not.

I think the U.S. officially adopted the Metric system in 1866, if it has not caught on by now, I just don't see much hope for it.

TheTester, If you don't want to fool with relays or timers as you originally stated, I think the centrifugal switch would be right down your alley. I posted a link on page 1, but you never responded, maybe you missed it.

Harold, I am using subsilver2 and I have the mark post read, at the top right of the forum. I clicked it out of curiosity, and now if I hover over the icon at the left end of the post title it reads no unread posts.

Dave seeing how it came out cured, was there any chunks of dried mud on the rims that might have got knocked off during the R&R? That can sure cause that symptom.
