Re: Micrometer boxes
Some cigars come in nice wood boxes, all different sizes, and some are thin.

Re: Large O-Rings
The 1.5" thick aluminum plates were cut on a water-jet so the hole and perimeter were acceptable as cut . I did the o-ring grooves, drilled and tapped holes for Helicoils on both sides. They just came back from being anodized, now to install all those Helicoils! The plates (matched pair) are ad...

Re: Large O-Rings
Yes, Thank You. The o-ring is crowded to the outside so it is already where the pressure would move it. And the opposite is applied if the pressure is from the outside?

Re: Cutting thin sheet metal
Only other method I can think of in your situation (no CNC or waterjet), would be to use a router with a center collar guide inside a pattern cut oversize to adjust for the collar size. Pattern could be plastic or whatever material easy to cut, finish but be hard enough to hold it's edge. With some ...

Re: Large O-Rings
I agree with the others....ask 'em....I think they blew it. I know of no reason to have that much stretch, as it would cause early failure. The depth (.231") is also incorrect. Should be .201" - .211". The .300" width is not correct either. Parkers Big Book of O-Ringdom. See pag...

Large O-Rings
I have to machine o-ring groves into the flat surface of aluminum plates as per a print. The grooves are (1) 12.5"ID X 13.1"OD and (1) 13"ID X 13.6"OD. That's a .300" wide groove and they specified .231" deep. The print calls for dash 453 and 454 Viton o-rings. The thic...

Re: filler and paint
California is good brand. Sounds like oil base (alkyd). Those products seem to have gotten thicker due to EPA VOC requirements and the store reps don't usually advise thinning or additives but they do help. I've used Penetrol in oil base paints for years with good results to keep a wet edge and impr...
