Re: need help - test my Emco 5 CNC retrofit setup
Hmm, definitely should work with the XP/32; pretty sure I've read that Mach doesn't work with 64 bit anything via the P/P.

Re: need help - test my Emco 5 CNC retrofit setup
I wish I could be more help. This stuff is hard on us old guys without loads of 'puter knowledge. I'm thinking it's something in your parallel port setup though. I've seen quite a bit of chatter about those add-on PP cards. Oh yeah, you do have XP 32 bit right?
Good Luck

Re: need help - test my Emco 5 CNC retrofit setup
I'm no expert but have you checked to make sure the Enable jumpers are in place? Other than that, dunno unless those 8 wire steppers can somehow be wired that causes them to lock up yet not move under Mach control?? All mine have been 4 wire; screw up the wiring & they just don't work. Thought j...

A good choice methinks and one that will save you a ton of time & misery trying to reinvent the wheel.

Re: BOB CAD
Ouch; that'd get your attention! Thanks for the reminder. 90% of my stuff is small & chucked in an ER32 collet chuck so I don't have to worry about it too much but definitely another thing to add to the checklist. I did have a problem a couple weeks ago with G94/G95 though. I was editing a previ...

Re: BOB CAD
Nice video Dave, I keep saying I'm going to do a little video of the ORAC but my camera isn't very good. Gotta remember to keep an eye out for something better. It sounds like your spindle speed tops out before getting to the smaller diameters. What's your max spindle speed? I envy your programming ...

Re: BOB CAD
OK...maybe the manual is old and out of date....??? Yep. Many, many fixes & updates were made through the years that were not documented anywhere but in the forums. Originally it was a big source of frustration for me since I already had enough trouble trying to figure this stuff out without ha...

Re: BOB CAD
Mornin’ Dave; Happy 4th to you & yours! Sorry about the slow response; it got party-ish around here last night.:) Here’s what Dolphin spits out with CSS (G96) selected and feed per min (G94). Unfortunately there’s a bug in Mach that makes it do wacky things if you try to run G96 & G95 at the...

Re: BOB CAD
Looks great Dave; it's wonderful feeling when things work like they're supposed to. :) Were you running CSS or constant spindle speed? Unfortunately Mach won't do CSS & feed per rev at the same time but I've been running CSS with the feed set to in per min and it's OK. Pretty cool watching the s...

Re: Software & Electronics for Mini-Lathe?
Great post Ed! I can definitely tell you have "been there & done that." Like you, I'd love to use LinuxCNC on my lathe but I certainly don't have the computer savvy to switch over. I loaded up the standalone CD & tried to run with it but could see very quickly that the learning cur...

Re: BOB CAD
Good to hear you got some relief Dave; CAM stuff is plenty hard enough already without the P/P doing goofy things! Funny, my version of Dolphin has very similar issues to BobCAD dealing with internal arcs but at least one of the Dolphin guys worked with me via email back & forth the same day unt...
