F7A 1.5” shells

I am looking for a Fiberglas f7a shell in 1.5” originally made by Mike at little engines. I believe he told me that 10 shells were made. I am looking to see if anyone has one of those 10 laying out in the barn that they might part with. You can tell it is 1.5” by measuring across the back. It should...

Hydrostatic pump question

I am working on my gas/hydraulic which has a hydraulic pump connected to a "log splitter". I want to replace this setup with a hydrostatic pump but am having a lot of trouble getting information and specs, and figuring out what I need. My locomotive is a 7.5" SW1500 and has 2 hydrauli...

Re: WTB Clippard MJQC-B4B4

Thanks Mike. I have always used the MJQC series because of the flexibility (1/8" tube connectors) and the high flow rate (14 scfm @ 100 psig ). Being able to get air pressure to the back of the train, and then release it quickly was important to me. The MQC-3 series, while cheaper, only move le...

Re: WTB Clippard MJQC-B4B4

Tim - from everything I can find, Clippard is saying the entire MJQC line is discontinued. Do you have a supplier for the MJQC bulkheads? It would probably be a MJQC-PBB4, which would work. I Just need something in that same MJQC line. These fittings have a valve and a cap. The valve is used on the ...

WTB Clippard MJQC-B4B4

This part has been discontinued by Clippard and I have used them for my brake lines. I know it is a long shot, but would really like to hear if someone has some they could spare.

Please send me a PM with quantity and asking price.
Thanks.
Dale.

Allen Mogul Timing

I am still helping my friend with his Allen Mogul. Last problem was the sticky throttle, which was fixed thanks to this group. Now the timing... It was not running "true", so I found by backing the rod into the slide valve on the left side one and a half turns, I got it to run even and tru...

Re: Stiff throttle on Allen Mogul

All those who suggested to repack and lubricate the throttle rod have won the "door prize", which is my Thank You! I pulled the packing nut off and the throttle was smooth and easy, so I cleaned all the old packing out, rewrapped with graphite and added a drop of steam oil on the shaft. It...

Re: Stiff throttle on Allen Mogul

Thanks to both Brew and RN for the help. I will pull the packing nut and hope that helps. Otherwise, armed with your information, I will open the steam dome! I will update my progress here.
Thanks

Re: Stiff throttle on Allen Mogul

The throttle is stiff when under steam. I tend to "jump" the locomotive when trying to start because the throttle is hard to pull so little, fine adjustments are hard. My Atlantic has a smokebox ball valve which is smooth and where I can do very fine adjustments. This is just a lot harder ...

Stiff throttle on Allen Mogul

I am helping a friend with his Allen Mogul and the problem we are currently addressing is a very stiff throttle. The Mogul has a dome throttle with a packing nut on the back head. I am wondering if it could be just the packing nut, or if there could be something going on with the throttle in the dom...

Re: Hydraulic problem

Chris - Yes - we have spent a lot of time talking about just pulling the hydraulics and converting to all electric. That is an option, but if we are "close" and can do something fairly easy, then I would like to, for now, stick with this option. Bill - I would suspect you are correct - the...
