Re: Dyna DM2400 Conversion
Very nice. I see you kept the original stepper motors? Do you have the covers for them? I still may have mine if you need them. Marty,Thanks. I do have the covers. At the time the pic was taken I was still doing machine mods. Yep. Still using the 100 step motors. They work just fine, altho I have a...

Re: Dyna DM2400 Conversion
Another DM2400 owner here. Converted to PC & G-Code with Cnc-Pro as a controller. Stepper drivers are Camtronics and a Dart spindle drive. All orig electronics removed. Pic shows running a ball endmill profile around a loco boiler firebox firehole ring with a Z axis extender accessory. Great mac...

Re: 20T Hydraulic Press Springs?
After a LOT of cogitating and net research and a trip to Home Depot, I found spring material to replace the old (lost) undersized springs. Garage door extension springs come in many sizes. Which size is the kicker. I figured one particular size would do but bought the next larger size. Normally pres...

Re: 20T Hydraulic Press Springs?
No, but, I suppose it will do. Mostly depends on the bottle jack weight.
Don't know what brand it is. Surely an import tho.
If some one has a "commercial" brand for comparison, please add your data.
This would be for an H frame - bottle jack style.
Thanks.

20T Hydraulic Press Springs?
Hey, When moving house & shop I disassembled my 20T hydraulic press. Now comes time to put it together & the 2 jack return springs are no where to be found. Would someone having a 20T H frame press please grab a caliper & measure the wire diameter, coil diameter, and the closed spring le...

Re: Delay in shipping
I built a small glass tube saw using re-purposed materials and a new diamond lapidary saw blade. A sewing machine motor (low speed), o-ring & pulley drive, base plate , bracket and a wet sponge. Nothing fancy. Set up a stop and cut glass tubes easily with square, smooth ends. Keep the blade wet ...

Re: Industry Structure
Our RR has several "industry" spurs and roughly 2 to 3" scale structures including a junk yard. The model railroad guys like to come out and do card order operations after we set out everything available on wheels. Then we run through freight and passenger trains to keep them on their...

I prefer FiberFrax (or Kaowool) or ceramic paper depending on the situation. Very Hi temp capable. Comes in many forms. Blanket, board and rope. A mechanical means to hold it in place may be needed. Hard setting furnace cements crack and fall apart with the extreme temperature cycling in a boiler en...

Re: Seeking miniature dial calipers
Mike, I have just what you need if I understand the requirement. The tool is called "Slim Jim" and was well known years ago. Not to be confused with door openers and food snacks. Mine is packed away, but here is a patent describing the tool. Not a common telescoping bore gauge. Nothing mor...
