Jumbo sized train set! Looking great Glenn.
If you have any broken tape measures, you can pull the tape out, cut it off, and tape it to your "survey poles".

Re: 12" working railroad
Steamin, I hear you, it's difficult out here with the cost of property and far over-reaching government regulations. Every muddy spot is a wetland and every low ravine that flows water when it rains hard is considered a stream. It's absolutely amazing to me that I started with 5 acres and I'll barel...

Re: Woodinville Shops
Sounds good Glenn. Grizzly is only a couple blocks away from my place but are only open my work hours, so I have to go during lunch.

Re: 12" working railroad
Well I had a bit of a setback of sorts. My property ended up having wetlands found on one part, yet another part I didn't think I could use, I can use. This is good, and bad. The part I can use is a little more "ready", meaning the grade is closer to finish grade on most of the route....mo...

Re: Woodinville Shops
If you want to do 3 color signaling, you'll need to isolate the track into at least 3 blocks, and add a wire running from the furthest block away to the signal location. This will trip the signal yellow when the train is in the next-next block. The signal location will also need a 12V power source. ...

Re: Woodinville Shops
That trestle looks great! Good work. Your back will thank you for renting the Kubota, that's way too much weight to shovel by hand. I think the 5/8 clear is the best choice for our weather here, it will let the rain drain through it, but is large enough that it won't move in a downpour. I really lik...

Re: Your own large scale RR
Pretty interesting, kind of sad how things change. I like the little amusement parks, and they DO make money, like the article says, it brings in $10 million a year. But there are EASIER ways to make money; development, high-end restaurant, car lot, whatever. Most people these days I think are look...

Re: 12" working railroad
I'm in a holding pattern for more metal shop time, so I grabbed some more pallet wood and scraps, and made a tie set for my first turnout. I cut the grooves for the straight portion of the turnout in my regular tie fixture, and then I'll need to temporarily fit one of the rails to assure the ties ar...

Wrong gage for me. I'll be waiting for pictures and reports from those that went.
