Re: Got any raid?

Hello Scott,

Looks great! Which cad system did you use, PlasmaCam, Torch Mate etc.?

Re: Looking for a Water Ram Pump

In this month's "Home Power" magazine there is an article on Water Rem Pumps.
I did not read it but it seems to cover theory and operation.

Good luck,

Re: South Bend lathe

Thanks guys, with the abundance of negative comments and the current price I will pass on this machine. It is reaching the price of a new import and although the tooling will have to be added to a new machine, the items with the SB are probably in excess of my needs.

Thanks again,

Rick

Re: South Bend lathe

Thanks for the comments, I'm off to the machine shops to try and get an idea of the R.I. prices.

Thanks again,

Measuring tools

In a much earlier post, I asked about a good "basic" set of tooling for my new to me Bridgeport. (I bought almost all of the items suggested) Here is the same question only regarding measuring implements. I am not looking for the best or priciest (unless there is an overwhelming need) or t...

South Bend lathe

I have looked at a SB 13 x 39 lathe. It appears to be unabused, bearings and gears are quiet at all speeds, no bashes in the ways, no missing teeth in the gears. The only thing that I can find wrong is wear in the ways from the chuck to aprox half way to the tail end of the bed. The "finger nai...

Re: 7 1/4" gage specs.

John Johnson of LocoGear has a neat threaded axle for his Shay design. The wheel without the gear has a locking key that can be backed out and the wheel turned until it meets the "other" guage width. John has a nice autocad drawing of the part he will probably sell as a single drawing. jjo...

New (to me) Bridgeport

Some time ago, I posted a question titled " Tooling a Bridgeport". Many of you answered and I wanted to let you know that my new 1967 machine has arrived... The riggers delivered it today, I powered it, and actually managed to make some chips without breaking anything or spilling blood. [i...

Re: MORE than ot.....

The consequences of a single snow flake sound just like Rhode Island. Supermarkets sell out, schools close or delay opening, and people forget how to drive.

Re: Aluminum welder

The welding supply shops in RI suggest a TIG machine as their first choice for aluminum. If you need the MiG for greater speed, they say a spool gun or "push-pull" system is the way to go. The softer aluminum wire tends to "birds nest" easily they claim. No personal experience, j...
