Spendy, but it drys, and stays on there longer than most. Most motorcycl shops carry it.

Re: Oddball Automotive Fitting

My experience is that it's quicker to make things like that than to find them. Also cheaper and more satisfying. If you have a lathe of course. Yup. Sometimes it's time or money, and other times, it's cause the part you need, doesn't exist! And there is also the case, of adapters that do indeed exi...

Absolutely!
I did finance the pizza at first….with company money.
I had to change that plan, and pay for a few pitchers of suds too, as the start-up leaks all but disappeared, and the crew was getting parched on Friday nights!

Re: Oddball Automotive Fitting

Bill, Mine is the "other" Hydromax, mainly used on International and a few GM P30 Snap On trucks. Way simpler. That one in your link is the one usually found on Ford trucks. Richard That was the only real info that popped up when I did a quick search. My guess is the 13/16-18 thread is so...

Re: Oddball Automotive Fitting

Since I am watching paint dry......only things I see in the book with 13/16-18 threads, are flare & compression fittings. (SAE J246) all those threads are for the sleeve or compression nut......nothing with an o-ring. Here's a Hydromax book I found on the inter-web. http://1999southwind.com/DOWN...

Re: Oddball Automotive Fitting

I was talking about Hydromax being a Bosch owned creature, although I don't know if it still is. Bosch has been known to do some odd things when it comes to hydraulic adapter threads. I have a Bosch Automotive Handbook. 2nd edition, circa 1986. Not much on threads in there, a bit on fasteners & ...

Re: Oddball Automotive Fitting

From the automotive minds of Bosch.....an o-ring port with flare nut threads. Maybe schnapps was involved. I've never seen that before.

You called it right. Oddball! :)

That's a handy booklet, and I don't think it's on the website anymore.

Re: Hydraulic leak

I worked for an equipment manufacturing company, that built drill jumbos & bolters. They are hydraulic intensive machines, and have a whole lot of adapters & hoses. When they got fired up for the first time, it was often an ugly show, with oil dripping, running, and even spraying out from on...

Re: Hydraulic leak

It could be done with a mill too, if you have one. Both gauge ports are in the inlet side on that filter head, so pick the one that' suits you best.
