i am afraid it is far more likely to be a problem with the piston valves/liners.
your pistons look fine to me and well within acceptable tolerances.

suggest you contact Reeves in the UK who own the copyright and do the castings and drawings for Don Young's 5"g 'Etna' which is of the LNWR Precurser but very similar to the George The Fifth class.

hi Geof, i have watched your youtube clip carefully. what a lovely loco! there does not appear to be anything wrong with the cylinders/pistons. there is a nice sharp beat and there is no loss of steam, and the boiler is not struggling to maintain pressure. so far as lubrication is concerned are ther...
