Re: New Project GE 23T Boxcab in 1.5" scale.

Going to wait till I have the mounting holes for the peds and binders drilled and set for mounting before its all welded together...

Re: Live Steam Parts trucks and couplers

Stuff made in China is not all bad. But the copying of others hard work to mass produce things in China is the biggest problem these days. I do not condone it in this or any hobby or industry for that matter. Sad to hear Tom being the victim of this. I had looked at the products and was interested b...

Oh so talked with the designer tonight and received a few drawings. So the journal issue is no longer one. I will be making the ones from the plans. Can't wait to get it in and started on it.

New Project GE 23T Boxcab in 1.5" scale.

I am currently awaiting the arrival of a chassis from a friend. Its his design that I am going to be building up. Anyhow I am looking for some journals and have found a few out there but none of them look just right. I have seen one at MDM that looks close but uses 2 springs. Most if not all prototy...

Re: How best to teach a youngster?

I am new to instructing as I am still learning on coal and larger loco's. But I do instruct on my friend Tom's Beam engine as it is propane fired and I know it inside and out. I usually start by having the new student ride a lap or 2 with and observe what I do as much as they can and listen to tips ...

Re: coil spring source

Fred, Thank you very much. That gives me a starting point. I also must totally agree with their system. I am building 2 sets of utility trucks for my 2 gons. I have all the frame pieces cut and just need to get journal box material and springs for the frames are ready for axles. Already have the whe...

Re: coil spring source

Fred, If you wouldn't mind sharing, what ones did you look at and or buy for that use? I have 2 sets of trucks on the build and those are one of the next things on the list to buy. I have looked at mcmaster as well but it honestly boggled my mind. I had narrowed it down but am curious as to what oth...

Re: Vert. boiler problems

Hey Tim,

I posted on this as well. Maybe you can add some points that I was not able to articulate properly in my thread. I know Tom is looking at getting a new boiler but it would be nice if we could get this one the work in the mean time.
