Re: Thoughts on letting other people run your locomotive
I used to run my loco about 20 hours a day. It still runs that much but I only get to run it a couple of hours a day. Everyone else runs it the rest of the time. Yes and I must thank you from the bottom of my heart for that. You are the reason I know how to run a Live Steamer. You are also the reas...

Re: Bitter Creek Narrow Gauge photos and meet report
Sorry this has taken so long to get up. I have a few others but mostly head on coming at me shots. Not nearly as good as Harlock's pics but I didn't spend much time taking them. I was running C&S 18 A LOT at the meet and loved every minute of it. Working on the video of RGS 41's runby with its long ...

Re: Thoughts on letting other people run your locomotive
I am still a newbie with just a few cars yet to meet the track. Everything I have run has been other fellow steamers equipment. But as stated by RB211, I will not and have not asked to run any of them. I see it as taboo like RB211 also stated. I help them out when unloading, firing up, and ask quest...

Hey Mike,
I have a few pics of the double head with you and Phil. Will try and get those up soon as well as the video I shot of 41's run by with the long train.

Re: Boiler issue and question.
I will bring the ideas brought up in this thread to Tom's attention just in case he hasn't found them already. We had talked about using a roller to roll the tubes but the issue of the crud/crust on the fire box side is what would not make it a viable one till it was removed. Any places to check for...

Re: Bitter Creek narrow gauge meet / MEG Fest 2012
Hey Phil,
I will be there all weekend. Hope to arrive friday night. Although I do not own a meg or any ng equipment yet. I will gladly help out anyway I can. I can also shoot some video of the lash up for you all. Will be great to see you again as well.

Re: Boiler issue and question.
Ok going to try and answer all the questions. To Bcody, it is not my loco. It is Tom Osterdock's loco. I will talk to Tom about the acid treatmeant. We had tried the ginger to no avail. To clear up a bit the crud is on the outside of the boiler crown sheet on the firebox side. For those that may not...

Boiler issue and question.
So here is the problem. I have been helping a friend with his Connor Walking Beam engine. Those of you me know which engine I am talking about. After the last meet where we had a issue with losing half a boiler of water in less that 1 minute going down the line. Today we pulled the boiler and starte...

Not sure about the locomotive you are inquiring about. But I have seen another FM locomotive around out here on the west coast. Here is a link to the Bittercreek Western RR website that has a few pictures of the FM loco in Virginian livery I have seen a few times at there. http://www.jf2.com/bcwrr/1...

Re: Steaming Bay Etiquette
In my experience its always best to ask. Since I dont have any running equipment of my own I usually am working on others loco's. But in any event if the loco owner does not have a needed tool etc. I always ask even if its someone I know and am good friends with. Just to cover my rear and the biggie...
