Shortly after Jacobs somewhat quietly switched at least some of their production to Chinese mfg, I bought a Jacobs keyless 5/8 chuck, not realizing that I was not buying traditional USA Jacobs. First and foremost, thanks to you all for the excellent thoughts on this. Multiple belts are a very interesting possibility. I had that on a Sheldon/Vernon mill I once had, and it worked well. These things are always a matter of the tolerances you want to hold. Stoning, by definition, removes metal.
