Steve, Check out some of the designs by Elmer Verburg. These are stationary steam engine designs that need no castings. I would suggest the Mill Engine. They are correctly designed and are a joy to machine and build! You will learn a lot building one. They can also be scaled up to any size you want....

Harold, okay, cutting oil it is. Soapy water should take care of removing any residual oil. Tom, well, a few pounds of air pressure is a bit pre-mature. I can't pressurize the boiler until the all of the bushes are blanked off. (There are many) I can't install the blank off plugs until the bushes ar...

Thanks for posting the video. It seemed strange that the video was mostly of the blast pipes and the top of the valve chests. A still photo would have been good enough for that. You might consider, for a moving picture video, more shots of the valve gear from the side.

I stand corrected, locomotives are trains, by specific definition used on real railroads. Any locomotive parts, are also train parts.
