LALS Spring Meet
I will be there with my kids and wife. Camping out in the grass. I'll have my 1" Congress, 1" Riding Railkits Switcher, and (if the wheels get put back on in time) my 1.5" Balwin Westinghouse steeple cab electric. I just found out that the wheels were Loctitied on with 606 Green, and ...

Home Railway Journal Will be There
Yes, I will be there Monday through Saturday. Don't know when exactly I will be in the booth. I am going to enjoy some of the time with the family and my birthday while I am there.

Sorry to tease....
I do not have access to the magazine's computer right now, but I have a few pics on a concrete ties system we test installed at SVLS and was used at Ron Danley's place in Willows. The screws were cast in, and each casting incorporated three ties. Very heavy, but once set stay in place. I used the 1&...

Arbor
I would think that would work. I would recommend making a press fitinstead of a thread, because as you loosen the bolt holding the wheel on, you could also loosen the arbor that is threaded in. It may not be exactly as you had it before when you re-screw in (technical term) the arbor. I have seen th...

Gaskets
I used red Loctite on my Chloe rebuild. Works with no problems at all since the temp is below 400. Also, it is VERY easy to remove when taking things apart. I had to do this on my steam dome (put it on sideways -- I never purport to being a genius) and the dried Loctite comes off very cleanly. Matt ...

Trainfest
I'm thinking about it as well (not for the magazine, but for pure fun). My wife's family is from MI (Niles, just north of South Bend) and it might be a good excuse for a "family vacation." I know 4449 has been in the works for a while, and at one point was shelved as not possible. It is so...

1" rail
I second the Real Trains' 1" rail. This rail was designed by the late Jack Sessums to represent 100 lb rail. it is 1/2" high so it won't take off your cylinder cocks if you derail. It also has enough strength to handle just about anything. I run my friend's 2.5" scale stuff on it and ...

Boiler Pressure
I have never heard of an "agreement" (at last out west) on a 125 psi working limit. In fact, by California code, anything over 100 must be state tested as it is then no longer considered a hobby boiler.

Bob,
How long did that series run? I need to re-up my sub to Model Engineer and will back-order if possible.

Re: small scale meet
I know that some of the Live Steam G scalers were having trouble in luggage, but that was mainly because of the alcohol burners. I know some other people have taken their steamers in 3/4" scale in luggage. I have a little experience in flying locomotives. My 1" scale Maxitrak Congress is a...

2.5", 3.5", and 4.75" Gauge Meet!!
With all of this year's big attention on Train Mountain for the 7.5" gauge meet, those of us at Golden Gate Live Steamers (GGLS) decided to have a Small Scales Meet to compliment, not compete with TM. Come enjoy the fellowship of your fellow modelers and see what they have been up to. Learn new...

Track Spacing
John, No firm answers, but I'll share some of my measurements on my track. I have a passing siding that is spaced at 27" (that's all the space I had) and works OK for 1" standard gauge trains, but still a little tight as none of us scale out :-) It can handle a 1.5" scale, 7.5" g...
