The VFD I just installed on my drill press has parameters that allow auto restart or remain off if input power is lost. You can even set the power interruption time down to milliseconds. The inputs for momentary on/off buttons work fine as they would on any magnetic starter.

Not sure covering the logs is a good idea or not. Might promote fungus. I never cover them here. The oak should last a long time, pine can get beetles fairly quick. If its going to be a long time before sawing paint the ends with anything to slow the drying and prevent checking.

Bill not doubting the standards, but at .002 and .003 inch clearance will the bushings take grease? I've had trouble in that range.

Fractions are neat, BUT. I use a digital height gauge to set the blade height on my table saw. It does fractions but when your looking for 3/8 and its reading 83/128ths which way do you go, up or down.

Im guessing , as has been said the stock is slipping. I recently built a tubing bender, and incorporated a clamp to hold the tube at the start of the bend. Every bend formed exactly where i wanted it, if I measured correctly. Without the clamp I know they wouldn't have.
