Re: Nickel Plate 762

Meanwhile, 762’s tender is complete and awaits the locomotive. It is dressed in its Sunday best for show at the 1948 Chicago Railroad Fair. Bob Chamberlain is shown shining it up. He’s in charge of keeping the locomotive and tender looking good, especially when we get it out and get it dirty. I’ve g...

Australian AD60 Garratt at Maricopa Live Steamers Fall Meet

The other highlight of the Maricopa Live Steamers meet that I attended on 10/29-30/21 was the running debut of Trevor Heath’s 4-8-4 + 4-8-4 1.5” scale, 7-1/2” gauge NSWGR (New South Wales Government Railway) Australian AD60 Garratt. The locomotive is 13’ 6” long, has cast main frames, is superheated...

Re: Nickel Plate 762

When I did the machining drawings for the Berkshire parts, I tried to anticipate things that were attached to the individual parts or castings and drill and tap attachment holes as required. I figured it was a lot easier to figure that stuff out while you are machining individual parts than to try a...
