Where are you ? I have a couple of the medium power ones in the shed. I had two big ones (one a true Variac [rtm] and the other that other Co. :-) ) 240 /120 at 25 A that I sold just last year. They have been in the shed for the 23 years since I retired.

:-) "DA" was a haircut style. The first thing that comes to mind when I see it. I really hate abbreviations that aren't accompanied by the full description the first time they appear.

Using round bars (in a pair of Vs usually) has been used a lot. At least I've made 4 or 5 tooling devices using it with good results.

A single "wrap" between the screw is to keep it from being snagged and pulled off. A "mechanical" phenomena not electrical. :-)

When I was working as an engineer, it was standard practice for the machinists to deburr each and every surface, and I never observed them deburring raw stock for personal safety. Back in ancient times there were machines that you stuck the end of a bar into and they centered and drilled it automatically. You could make an end cap on the lathe, stepped to accept the workpiece and the center drill, and use a hand drill to make a centered hole. I did exactly that a few weeks a...
