Re: 3/4" Scale J1e

Now we are getting somewhere. Here is the top and sides carefully fitted together. Then the two parts were tacked together, carefully checking the alignment as working around. Once everything was looking good the entire weld was made. The weld was smoothed out with an abrasive wheel and then the wor...

Re: 3/4" Scale J1e

After the top portion was made it was time for the side piece. The forming die was plunked down on top of the actual steam dome and was wrapped with some card stock, actually an old file folder. Then it had the boiler contour marked on it with some dividers and a Sharpie. This card stock pattern was...

Re: 3/4" Scale J1e

Hello My Friends Yesterday I made the steam dome. This is one of them little puzzles that I really enjoy as its mainly just sticking my thumb out, and the main tool is a hammer. It is much easier to make than the sand dome as it's round. But in some ways it's not, as the lip around the bottom is qui...

Re: 3/4" Scale J1e

Hello My Friends Bill is correct, the tiny U joints from McMaster are fifty bucks each. You want the cool bling, you have to shell out the greenbacks :D . The power reverse is finished up. The #00-90 studs were made for the valve chest covers. The challenge here was getting the studs uniform with th...

Re: 3/4" Scale J1e

Hello My Friends
The stainless U Joints are from McMaster. The smallest are for 3/32" rod. Which I have here. The OD of the joints is the same as for 1/8" rod. They are also available un drilled.

Re: 3/4" Scale J1e

Here is a bit more. The piston rod started out as 3/8" steel. Part was turned down to 1/4" round. Then it was cut off and put in the spindex. The 3/8" round was milled to 1/4" square. This square bit fits in the square anti rotator as in photo 4. You can also see the #10-24 left hand thread. This th...

Hello My Friends Bill's comment about Lucy...I can picture her working at the chocolate factory, on the assembly line. All us old Bozo's know what I'm talking about. I'm sure some of the youngsters are scratching their heads. Hopefully things won't get quite that frantic here  As to the type of...

Re: 3/4" Scale J1e

Hello My Friends Greg may have his suspicions, but I can assure you, there is only one of me. I do drink quite a lot of coffee though. :D I haven't done anything on the J1e for some time. I have been working on molds for the last few weeks for some projects and I'm sick of lookin' at em'. The little...

Hello My Friends Here are a few snappies of some trinkets on Jim's Berk. The first we have here is the Super Governor. I really like these governors as they just bristle with blobs and bits. Lots of cool stuff going on here. Studs, and nuts, plugs, compression fittings, 1/16" tubing, eye candy! Next...
