Re: Chuck became magnetic

I don't really care - I was just wondering if anyone ever noticed something similar.

Re: Tips, Hints, Shared Ideas for the new Machinist or Hobby

Do some wood working.

I made a wooden rack to keep my tool holders organized! I'm not sorry I did.

Re: Tips, Hints, Shared Ideas for the new Machinist or Hobby

Those little copper straps that plumbers use make a great way to store a drill chuck, a live center or an 8" file. Look at the lathe - I store a chip brush and a 4mm allen wrench (for my tool holders) right there on the front. Just drill and tap a little hole for a 'L' shaped hook. Then mount a...

Speaking of magnets ... Neodymium magnets are pretty useful little things. I use three 3/4&quo...

Chuck became magnetic

I just discovered that my 6-Jaw has gained a pretty fair amount of magnetism - anyone ever notice that with their chuck? This is a small slab of 1.5" 1018 mild http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk219/WhisperFan/Machines/Magnetic001.jpg Getting closer! http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk219/W...

Re: Toe Jack welding project.

You're welcome One other thing - if you have a jack like this, you will see that the 'bolt' on the top of these jacks don't come out. But I wanted to use this bolt to hold the lifting tow in place. Toe Jack welding project.

I used a Lincoln 140T MIG with an Argon/CO2 mixed gas. Since I use a shielding gas, I use a welding wire with no flux...
